News from Kluut up
the Rias
Next stop was Camarinas. So far the seas have been very kind to us but unfortunately we have not had much wind for sailing, even around the dreaded Finisterre on the Coast de Morte. It has an infamous reputation demanding the respect and caution of any sailor, but we caught it on a calm day. Rough seas here though tested my patches. We've been testing all sorts of remedies, including ginger biscuits which I made (!), but I'm glad to say that I am holding up quite well. At least the weather cleared later, and we were able to dock and I got my balance back on the white sandy beach.
Well the sun is shining and the boat is fully stocked up with food and water so we will be leaving tomorrow to anchor somewhere nice and quiet in the Ria. We try to avoid marinas where possible although they are a third of what we would pay in the UK. We seem quite self sufficient though. Dave fishes whenever he gets a chance. The fish eat his bait, laugh and swim away. Some even have the audacity to steal the hook and feathers and entire line. He has come to the conclusion that there are no fish in Spanish waters. Back to the tins of tuna and sardines !!!! Loads of love to all the family, from the crew of Kluut |
